History-wise and otherwise....

Our world cup campaign is over finally. I don't think people felt too bad this time - everybody kind of anticipated it. Yet, this optimistic piece of prediction was making rounds just before the Srilanka match -

Year 1981
1. Prince Charles got married
2. Liverpool crowned Champions of Europe
3. Australia lost the Ashes
4. Pope Died
5. A year later (1982) Italy won the Football worldcup
6. 2 years later India won the cricket world Cup!!!

Year 2005
1. Prince Charles got married
2. Liverpool crowned Champions of Europe
3. Australia lost the Ashes
4. Pope Died
5. A year later (2006) Italy won the Football worldcup
6. 2 years later will India win the world Cup???

Sounds good, doesn't it? I remember in 2003 there was some 20 year theory floating around and in 1999 the England theory. Sadly nobody ever said that we would win the cup because we had strong batting lineup, bowlers etc. Will it ever happen? I think it's time the players and fans hung their boots and relaxed for a while.

Bob Woolmer's murderer has not been caught yet. Poor chap!!

Wedding Bells and Marriage Blues...

Had our quarterly 'Big Fight' yesterday night and I was the one who started it. I think I had to. Anyway, nothing comes out of these things except for a couple of laughs the next morning yet I start it with a great vision. Anyways, one nostril which was blocked for quite some time got cleared, that's all.

Watched Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna on DVD finally. We couldn't resist it after watching Rock 'n Roll on TV everyday for a month. Good songs and dances. Other than that.....I felt the director was in a hurry to get Maya and Dev together at any cost and SRK looked as if he was bent upon wrecking both the marriages. He was the worst of the lot and Abhishek(more so for me) the best. All said and done, I do think it is Karan Johar's best movie so far in terms of content.

Lambodara is getting married today and it will be Manjanna's turn next month. I hope I can attend Manjanna's wedding. He is a part of most of my childhood memories of summer and I do want him to do well in life though I've not been greatly fond of him. I have no idea what I dislike about him, though. One reason may be that Atte used to hit his sisters everytime he was upto some mischief much to my anguish. Or is it that he is very inquisitive? I don't know...

V has been in Uruguay for two months now. I'm so used to calling her up that it happens automatically even now. Another 4 months to go....

Ireland and Zimbabwe tied the match yesterday and Bray hit a good century. These smaller teams seem happy playing cricket and I too feel happier watching them....
